One island.
One charge.

Cebu runs 196 km end to end. Most of our electrified lineup does the round trip on a single charge with battery to spare, and the super hybrids barely wake their engines. Scroll down and watch exactly how far yours goes.

The Electric Island

Pick a model. Watch the road fill up.

Cebu runs about 196 km from Daanbantayan down to Santander, and the grey lines trace its real highways. Choose any electrified model in the family and the gold shows exactly how far one full charge carries you, out and back. Bolt markers are our charging points.

Assumptions: gasoline at ₱85/L (live PH pump prices, Cebu majors run higher) and 12 km/L; electricity at ₱12/kWh and 15 kWh per 100 km. Adjust for your own bill; the gap stays wide.

Myth busting

Six myths about going electric, busted.

01“EV batteries wear out fast.”

They're engineered for the opposite. BYD's Blade Battery is rated for about 3,000 charge cycles, which is over a million kilometers, and it's warranted for 8 years or 160,000 km with at least 70% capacity guaranteed. If it falls short, it gets repaired or replaced. Wuling backs the Starlight's pack for 8 years too.

02“Maintenance will bankrupt you.”

An EV has no oil changes, no timing belt, no clutch, and far fewer moving parts, so PMS is simpler and cheaper than a gas car's. The rest is covered in writing: up to 6 years or 150,000 km on the vehicle and up to 8 years on the drive unit.

03“One flood and it's scrap.”

What kills cars in a flood is water pulled through the engine's air intake. An EV has no intake to drown: the battery pack is sealed and waterproof-rated, and the high-voltage system shuts itself off at the first fault.

04“There's nowhere to charge in Cebu.”

Your wall socket is the charging station. Every Wuling and every BYD fills overnight from a regular outlet, and BYD includes the home wall charger, portable charger, and V2L adapter free. In town, DC fast charging runs at BYD Cars Cebu, with AC chargers at Ayala Center and Il Corso.

05“Come brownout season, you're stranded.”

The opposite: with vehicle-to-load, the car powers your house. Fridge, fans, wifi, until the lines come back. Charge at night, ride it out comfortable.

06“Nobody in Cebu can fix these.”

The family that sold it fixes it, and has been fixing cars in Cebu for four decades: PMS, casa-level diagnostics, genuine parts for all four brands, and priority bays for fleet accounts.

Since 1982

The handshake behind the showrooms

Edward recalled a poignant moment that left a lasting impression: “On our way home for lunch my dad asked me if I thought he did well as a businessman considering that he started with nothing. He shared to me his life story and how grateful he was to all the people who trusted, supported and gave him the opportunity to build his dreams.”
Edward Onglatco, on his father Eddie, in SunStar Cebu. The timeline is the answer.
From a working student who sold newspapers

A working student from a young age, Eddie Onglatco sold newspapers and worked as a lumber company salesman to put himself through Industrial Engineering at the University of San Jose Recoletos.

A hardware store in Cebu

From those modest beginnings, Eddie opens his own hardware store, which grows into leasing, restaurants, and furniture export.

The family enters the car business

The first dealership opens. Over four decades the family will represent Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, Hyundai, Changan, Wuling, and BYD in Cebu.

The Hyundai decades begin

The family takes on the Hyundai franchise in Cebu: the start of a partnership that runs some twenty years, from passenger cars on J. De Veyra Street to the working fleet of today.

A generation passes the wheel

Eddie passes away; his youngest son Edward takes the driver's seat and steers the group toward its next era.

The best Hyundai dealer in Asia-Pacific

Under Edward, Hyundai Cebu is named HARI Dealer of the Year three years running, and Hyundai Motor Company itself crowns it Asia-Pacific Dealer of the Year in 2008 and 2009.

Top of the country, again

The commercial-vehicle side takes HARI's Top Sales Team, Best in Country Sales, and Best in Light-Medium Duty Sales in 2017, then champions Top Truck Sales Performance and Best in Parts Sales in 2019. The pivot to trucks is already writing itself.

Hyundai Trucks & Buses Cebu

After two decades of Hyundai in Cebu, the operation is reborn as a dedicated 3S truck-and-bus facility at the North Reclamation Area. The working island gets its own address.

BYD Cars Cebu opens

Global Star Motors opens the A.S. Fortuna flagship: the first BYD dealership in the Visayas, with a seven-bay EV service center.

Wuling comes to Cebu

New Electric Dreams, Inc. celebrates the grand opening of Wuling showrooms in Mandaue and SM City Cebu.

The country's largest BYD showroom

Continuum Mobility Solutions opens BYD Cebu Central on J. De Veyra Street: the biggest BYD showroom in the Philippines at 7,246 square meters: a 12-car floor, 14 service bays, and a BYD Cafe.

One island, one charge

38 models across four brands, more than 1,000 EVs already on Cebu roads, and the same family handshake behind every one of them.
